Hotel CA'D'ORO is a first class hotel located approximately 35 minutes from Marco Polo Airport. The hotel is in a building that used to belong to the Barbaro family, prelates and diplomats in the service of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. The building was completely restored in 2000, but still offers guests the intimate and very particular atmosphere of the Venice of the past. The hotel is in a quiet corner of the Cannaregio district, where the atmosphere of old Venice has been preserved, off the tourist track and full of old restaurants and taverns. Cannaregio is one of the more populous and typical areas in Venice. The hotel is near the Campo Santi Apostoli and the Ca' d'Oro, one of the most beautiful palaces on the Grand Canal, built between 1424 and 1440 by order of the patrician Marino Contarini as a gift for the woman he loved. Ten minutes on foot through the main shopping streets takes you to St Mark's Square to admire all its precious sights. From Marco Polo Airport: Take Number 5 ACTV public transport bus to the Piazzale Rome terminal (35 minutes). Take ATVO airport bus to the Piazzale Roma terminal (20 minutes). From the Piazzale Roma terminal Number 1 ACTV water bus to the Ca'd'Oro stop (15 minutes). Alilaguna launch (blue line running hourly from 10.40 to 19.40) to Fondamenta Nuove stop (40 minutes) then 8 to 10 minutes on foot. A water taxi will take you to the hotel water gate in Rio di Ca' Dolce in 30 minutes.
